Steve McCadams is an outdoor writer and professional guide entering his 33rd year in the great outdoors.
A native of McKenzie (TN), he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and is an active member of The Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA), The Southeastern Outdoor Press Association (SEOPA), and The Tennessee Outdoor Writers Association (TOWA), having served as President in both SEOPA and TOWA.
McCadams’ articles and photos have appeared in numerous newspapers, magazines and books.
Publication credits range from IN-FISHERMAN, NORTH AMERICAN FISHERMAN, OUTDOOR LIFE, SPORTS AFIELD, FIELD & STREAM, and CRAPPIE WORLD to THE SATURDAY EVENING POST, along with a host of state and regional publications.
He is co-author of the book Crappie Wisdom, considered to be one of the best selling and most popular publications on American's favorite panfish.
Entering his 33rd year as a professional fishing and waterfowl guide on Tennessee's Kentucky Lake, he has appeared on numerous national syndicated television shows such as BILL DANCE OUTDOORS, FISHING WITH ROLAND MARTIN, BILLY WESTMORLAND'S FISHING DIARY, FISHING WITH ORLANDO WILSON, THE IN-FISHERMAN NETWORK, THE NORTH AMERICAN HUNTING & FISHING SHOW and more.
His seminars on finding and catching crappie on a year round basis have received accolades at national boat, sport, and travel shows across the nation.
Steve is a National Crappie Fishing Champion, having won the title with fishing pal Jim Perry, over America's best anglers in 1996 at the Crappiethon Classic on Chickamauga Lake. The 53-year old outdoorsman makes his home is Paris, TN., with his wife Linda and their 7-year old Labrador retriever Molly.
A 9-year cancer survivor, Steve hosts his annual “Casting For A Cure” Kids Fishing Rodeo each June which benefits the American Cancer Society.
On August 17, 2007 Steve will be inducted into the Outdoor Legends Hall of Fame in Nashville.
